Do you Crochet?

Hello World!  I have a confession to make.  I am a craft supply hoarder.  My yarn and fabric in particular have taken over my home.  This holiday season I am challenging myself, and you too, to create holiday gifts using only what you have on hand.  No buying new supplies.  For me this will be a bit of a challenge because I tend to want the "perfect" fabric or yarn for each project.  That's how I got here ha ha.

I have only been crocheting for a year and a half so I am still new to it but I admit I am addicted.  This is a blanket I am making for my oldest girl.  She is 21 and she chose the colors.  I've started (not kidding here) 9 different blankets for her but because I want it to be perfect, I keep frogging them.  This current one is the only one to make it this far and will be the winner.  She is getting very frustrated with me and claims she doesn't care if I make mistakes or not :)  I feel that since she will keep this for the rest of her life and it will live somewhere in her home and hopefully be loved by her kids in the future, I want it to be perfect.  Here it is:

It's just over half finished now and will be big enough to cover a double bed when it's finished.  Perfect for cuddling under alone or with her future kids or hubby.

I am considering writing a pattern for it but really it's a very simple blanket.  Also, I am going to do a roundup of teen friendly free crochet projects for the holidays.  Maybe if that goes well or if I am feeling good about the post I will do some more round up posts.  Ideas are appreciated.

What are you working on for the holiday season?

Happy Crafting World!

Dust & Dream Freebie

Just in case you are tired of the ROK freebies, here are some newer freebies.  One of my newest kits is called Dust & Dreams and I realized today that it had no alphas included with it!!  So I sat down and made some, then decided to give them away to all of you for free.  I love hearing your comments and the sweet comments about my anxiety and high blood pressure have really meant a lot to me.  I'm still struggling and had a bad panic attack today but thankfully I have an amazing husband who always supports me and kids who understand and run to get me warm compresses and hot milk when I need them.

I hope you like the snazzy new alphas and have something to scrap with them.  If you are interested in the kit itself, you can find it in either of my stores.

Download the alphas here.

Have a super weekend everyone :)

New ROK Freebie :)

Hello everyone!  I hope you have been having a great summer, if it's summer where you are :)  I have been doing well although there have been some stressful times.  I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure so have been at a high level of anxiety for the past month but I am starting to realize it's not the end of the world and am starting to settle down a bit.  When I'm really anxious I either dive into my computer work or ignore it and this summer it seems I am ignoring it.  Today however I decided to take a look at my Really Old Kits and set another one free!!

As usual, I still love this kit. The wooden frames with plastic overlays and screws in the corners and the bright happy flowers still make me smile.  The papers were one of my first attempts at a painted/abstract background and while they are a bit overdone, I think they still rock.

Download the kit here.

I hope you like it and please don't forget to stop by one of my stores to check out what I have on sale.  Simply click the Plain Digital Wrapper Store or the Gotta Pixel Store tabs on the top right of your page.

A Rainbow my Way - ROK Freebie!

You can probably tell by my absence from the blog that I have been busy.  There is a good reason for that :)  I opened a new store at Gotta Pixel!!  So far it's been amazing so go on over an check out my offerings while they are still on sale!!
Today's free kit is another one that is near and dear to my heart.  It was one of my first kits ever and I still find the colors and combinations appealing, I hope you will too!

Have a super day and happy scrapping!!

Dream a Dream - Free!

Another oldie but goodie.  I love the colors in this kit.  I remember creating the flowers and loving the crumpled papers but not much else.  I do have some old layouts that I did with this one though :)
The first one is my youngest when she was about a year old, she's 10 now.
The second is my oldest at 8 and my second oldest at 2.  They were so little!!  They are 20 (almost 21) and 15 now!!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week and will enjoy another free kit :)

The next ROK to be set free - A Happy Place

I remember being charmed by the kitten with the flowers and creating the whole kit around that image.  I'm not sure why I called it A Happy Place but I guess it made me happy.  The colors sure are bright.  I find it strange to see how much I have progressed in my designs since I created this kit in 2008.  My papers are so much different now and I add a lot more elements to my kits.  One of the things I am seeing as I pull out Really Old Kits is that I didn't add as many elements but did create many of the same elements in every color.  I still like to do that for certain things like tags or labels but generally my new designs have different flowers, buttons and frames.

Anyhow here is A Happy Place.  I hope you can use it to make yourself happy too :)

I hope you are all having A Happy Saturday!!!
